Abstract
There is need to educate our people on the need to live in harmony and peace regardless of religion, ethnicity and social status. Parents are better placed to lead the way forward in this direction through family literacy. This paper examines the role of family literacy to sustainable peace in Nigeria. The paper maintains that the family is a strong, vibrant, unique and fundamental unit of socialization where moral, ethical values peace and progress can be inculcated into our children, youth and adults. This will provide the children with a concrete starting point for tolerance and peace in Nigeria. The paper further recommends that family literacy must be a priority in the
peace—building agenda in Nigeria.
