Success in any school subject depends on the student ’5 ability to read efficiently. A study was designed to appraise the reading efficiency of Senior Secondary Students in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. A rating scale was administered to 360 students and 24 English Language teachers. The findings, among other things revealed that students have not acquired desirable reading habits and that schools lack functional Libraries. Suggested solutions include introducing reading programmes in
schools and provision of Library facilities.
