Effects of Strategy Study Skills Development on Students’ Achievement in Economics

The study was conducted to ascertain the effects of strategy study skills development on students ’ achievement in Economics. The study sample was made up of208 SS 1/ students drawn from two schools in Akwanga Local Government Area. Two research questions and two hypotheses were raised to guide the investigation. Data were collected using Strategy Skills Achievement Tests(SSAT). Data collected were analysed using mean, standard deviation and analysis of covariance (ANCO VA). The result showed that study skills strategy has positive effect on students“ achievement in economics. It was also found that the effect of the strategy on male and female students” was significant. It was recommended that study skills strategy should be imp/med in the teaching of economics to enhance students’ performance. Stakeholders in education should organize seminars and workshops to sensitize teachers on application of study skills strategy.
