The study aimed at examining the readability indices of selected science and social studies text books used in primary schools in Bendel State.
Data were collected using the Raygor and Lix and Rix Readability Estimates
on randomly selected passages on the examined texts.
Results showed that the texts were difficult for the intended levels.
It was also shown that the progressive difficulty levels were in staccato
formations … On the whole,science texts are simpler. Suggestions and
recommendations were offered to foster future educational practices.
