This paper highlights gender equity as a panacea for peaceful co-existence. The study was a descriptive research of the survey type. Three research questions were raised. The instrument used for data collection was a self-constructed questionnaire. The results reveal that people want women to lead in governance. It also show that people believe that there will be relative peace if women are given equal opportunities to serve in public service. The paper recommends that if the transformation drive of the Nigeria government is anything to go by women can help to push this
drive faster if given the opportunity to serve.
