The most obvious fact for distinguishing between man and animal is in terms of language behaviour; Since the human child begins as an inarticulate organism, his/her ability to communicate makes him/her a very articulate and communicative individual. This fact makes the study of early language development 01 the child essential. There has been a growing group of researchers (psycholinguists) “110 are directing their attentions to child language
(Berko & Brown. l960). Language is a s3stem of communication which human beings use with one another in the society, It is a means through which the society transmits the values that are fundamental for stability and survival. Today in Nigeria. English Language is the second language as well as the official language of communication and instruction in 2113 institutions (beginning from pie—primary to tertiary institutions). The attainment of educational and occupational excellence starts from the solid. foundation of the pie—primary and primary school level. Language development begins in earliest infancy. Universally. I infants exhibit paralinguistic behaviours.
