Literacy and value re—orientation are topical issues discussed in research and governance in Nigeria. These issues have come to fare because the culture and worldview of Nigerians are seemingly facing attrition and possible extinction.Nigerian people have a negative view of their culture and themselves as a result of negative and false documentations over the years. Nigerian literary artists are at the forefront of re—educating and regenerating their society through their works. This paper reviews Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s efforts towards promoting Nigerian culture and guiding the people towards positive perception of their culture and themselves. It therefore examines how Adichie reflects in her works the cardinal areas of value re—orientation which are education, history and culture. This paper is of the view that literacy development should include inculcating right values to the people.
