Sustainable development of the whole world and of Nigeria in
particular in the twenty-first century depends on the acquisition of facts and ideas which reside inside knowledge. The current era is an era of sporadic knowledge explosion. And knowledge in all its ramifications is stored inside books. It is therefore expedient, without being stoic, for teachers, administrators and researchers to know how to select and recommend good textbooks that are useful for the purposes they want to achieve. Establishing the criteria for appropriate textbook selection for sustainable development is the objective of this paper.
