Abstract
The study investigated what reading for pleasure meant to some teachers in Jos. the extent to which they read for pleasure and the implications for improving the reading habits of their students.  total of 176 teachers participated in the study. A thirteen item questionnaire measuring Teachers Attitude Toward Reading for Pleasure was used for data collection. The results indicated that although majority of the teachers had a good understanding of the concept of reading for pleasure. they rarely read for pleasure; and that teachers Mot providing good literate model to their students. The findings were interpreted in terms of the need for teachers to be more committed to reading for pleasure. and encouraging students to read for pleasure.
