Reading has been aptly described by Bright and McGregor (1970252) as “the
core of the syllabus.” Reading is an indispensable tool in general education and in language education at all the various strata of the modern educational system. Reading is a key to learning and a means to personal enjoyment even at the Junior Secondary School (155) level. There is no doubting the fact that the more one reads, the more one learns. One’s leisure becomes a more fruitful pastime while reading provides content and contentment to the reader.
