The Effect of Noise on Occupational Reading

A study conducted on the effects of noise on reading revealed that to a large extent, noise is distractive to reading. Differences in individual responses by respondents suggest that the distractive effect or otherwise of noise varies between noise sources and individual readers. The confused and undesired character of noise is noted and its implications for change in educational planning is discussed.
