ABSTRACT
The readability of three physics texts used in Nigerian secondary schools is carried out using the Flesch formula. The texts are Principles of Physics by M Nelkon, Ordinary level Physics by A.F. Abbott and Senior Secondary School Physics by R.N. Okeke and M. WAnyakoha. The scores show that the texts were written for different levels even though they are recommended for use in Senior Secondary Schools class one to three. While the readability scores of the text of Senior Secondary Physics by Okeke and Anyakoha falls within the Junior Secondary School class three (JSS. 3) and Senior Secondary School class one (S.S.S.1) equivalent, the scores of Ordinary Level Physics by Abbott falls outside the Senior Secondary School class equivalent and the scores of Principles of Physics by Nelkon falls within the Senior Secondary School class two {SSSZ} equivalent and S.S.S. 3 class three equivalent. A combination of
Senior Secondary School Physics by Okeke and Anyakoha and Principles of Physics by M. Nelkon should be recommended for Senior Secondary School Physics.
