The training of an individual is a joint responsibility of parents and the school. This is complemented by the society. This paper discusses how oral literature (orature) is used by the Tiv people of Benue State. Nigeria in traditional education. It recommends that in the face of an aggressive technological encroachment on our cultural values, orature should be included in our school curriuculum as a veritable means of reviving our culture and building
a morally better society.
