Introduction
Research and experience have shown that learners in Nigerian secondary schools have problems with reading. Unoh (1980) has tried to identify the causes of these problems and their possible effects on learning generally as well- as on the general academic performance of this category of students. Such problems are therefore always a source of concern, first lo teachers of language and reading in particular and then to those in charge of other subjects 1n school.
