Entrenching Positive Reading Attitude among Bankers: The Need for More Vigorous Literacy Campaign in the Banking Sector

The extent of one’s interaction in reading depends on the extent to which one is immersed in a literacy environment. This study was undertaken to examine there reading attitude of bankers in this era of[CT and a proposal on the strategies of fostering good reading culture in the banking industry. 500 male and female bankers from the 26 consolidate banks in Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu States constituted the sample. A l 6 7 item structured questionnaire dully validated was used as the instrument for data collection four research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. A simple random sampling technique was used for the instrument for data collection. Four research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. Data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation while the hypothesis was tested with a t—test statistics at 0.05 level of significance. Based on the result of findings, proposals for reading culture were given as panacea to the global campaign for Literacy especially in the banking sector.
