The paper defines reading for pleasure and refers to works on the importance of cultivating and sustaining interest in reading which is an important language skill for enhanced learning and education. It highlights some of the problems and wrong attitudes of undergraduates towards the extensive reading component of the English and Communication Skills (ECS) course.
