Abstract
Literacy as a tool plays a key role in achieving and sustaining peace and development. The development of reading, writing, manipulative and quantitative skills, good morals, civic responsibility equitable justice and peace are the hallmarks of functional literacy and require the family as a major stakeholder This paper discusses the effect of family literacy on peace and peaceful act—existence in the world and Nigeria in particular: The problems affecting family literacy and their implication or peace are also discussed. The write up concludes by recommending ways
that family literacy can help the nation to achieve and sustain peace.
