Literacy as Catalyst for Peace and National Development

In the recent years, literacy education has taken the centre stage in the education sector all over the world. For any nation to have peace and meaningful national development, her citizens must be empowered through literacy education. Literacy is the foundation of all forms of education and life-long learning and therefore a necessary condition for fostering peace, harmony and national development. This paper examines the relationship between literacy: peace and national development in the development. The paper concludes that literacy education is a fundamental instrument for positive change and therefore critical for promoting peace and national development.
