LITERACY IN INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES IN NIGERIA: THE TIV EXPERIENCE

This paper is to look into the DRCM/NKST Literacy Program in Tiv language from I” to dale. Secondly do a review of missionary activities in respect to literacy development in Tiv language. The review covers preparation, objective, implementation, the problems encountered and areas of success. Lastly the paper looks at issues, problems and obstacles found in the implementation of this program and finally solutions and recommendations are suggested and generalized to provide an experience for all indigenous languages in general and minority languages in Nigeria in particular.
