Piracy: The Menace of Book Development

This paper is exploratory’. It takes a critical look through the publication process from the author to the end user of printed materials aimed at promoting literacy in Nigeria. The paper reveals that although the enterprise of book publication is labour and capital intensive for both the author and publisher, piracy poses great challenge to the business of packaging knowledge and disseminating same in the book form. The negative implications of the
activities of pirates are highlighted as one setback frustrating the production of literacy materials. How to curb the piracy menace are suggested in this paper.
