Reading Comprehension as Tool for Peace Building in Nigeria

This research examines how peace and conflict management studies can be incorporated in many Nigeria ‘s schools
‘ curricula. Based on this, this research work is of the view that comprehension exercises which cut across all levels of formal education in Nigeria can provide a viable fulcrum for introduction of peace and conflict management studies in Nigerian schools. This paper adopts Social Constructive Model of teaching reading skill in demonstrating how to inculcate peace and conflict studies into comprehension exercises. This will not only prevent serious modifications on schools ’curricula but will also expand the pupils V’stua’ents ’reading and cognitive skills as well as educate them on the importance of peace and conflict management.
